Innovation work can be likened to the way we move through life. It is a transforming journey, inviting us to learn while underway. Innovation is by its nature a process of complexity, and most of us are strong in parts of the innovation work – and weak in others. Some will enjoy the chaos and open questions at the outset of a project whereas other prefer to work with well-defined solutions. Some excel in drawing up the ‘big picture’ and finding new opportunities whereas others prefer the action of implementing solutions. Each of us will do well when playing to our strengths, however, is helped greatly when we integrate the other qualities and get to know them in ourselves. When we do that, we expand our range of personal power and adaptability in relation to innovation process, and we are able to base decisions on real choice, not on habitual pattern. Also, it becomes much simpler to include people with different strengths than your own. Working with people different from yourself becomes a learning opportunity rather than a strenuous experience.
We invite you to a process of exploring your strong points and identifying your development potential. Coaching sessions can start out in various ways. Some people come to us because they want to expand their ‘vocabulary’, others have been triggered by their innovation profile and would like to get a better sense of their strengths and development potential. Others again, experience conflicts, and wish to resolve them in new ways.
Beginning to parse what is going on underneath the surface, and understanding how that relates to your individual preferences is a big, first, step towards changing the dynamics and enabling yourself and the team to go full circle.
